A new public consultation that will be pivotal to the next design phases at the new Trent Basin riverside neighbourhood has now launched. And developer Blueprint is asking for input and feedback from local residents and businesses in order to influence how this new waterside community will evolve and serve its local communities.

Building on the success of the first two Trent Basin phases, with phase 3 already in construction, the following stages will see another 200 homes, plus a new school built at the location over the next few years. Blueprint believes that the design of these phases presents a unique opportunity to deliver a 21st century living environment that relates to Nottingham’s unique riverside character. All the homes will be designed to employ the very best in new construction technologies and to provide low carbon energy efficient dwellings.

Sam Veal is Chief Executive at Blueprint: “This consultation will set our vision for the next chapter at Trent Basin and we think it vital to consider what our local community thinks. We are still in the design process and so open to new ideas and thoughts. We intend to provide green sustainable living in contemporary, stylish homes with a lower carbon footprint, but feedback is important to us, particularly when we are considering the shared and green spaces to be incorporated into our plans and uses for the basin inlet itself.

“We aim to create a neighbourhood, that is connected and walkable for school, work and leisure, with shared spaces for meeting neighbours and play. Whilst also forming a community that is living responsibly, enjoying nature and caring for the planet.

“The growing community at Trent Basin has a strong voice through an active Residents Association, which has already shaped future plans for the development. We would like to continue with that integrated approach and reach out to the wider community.

“We are also in discussions with Nottingham City Council, ahead of our planning application, to ensure the technical elements of our design work to their planning guidance and fit with the City’s plans for the wider Nottingham Waterside Regeneration area.”

As part of the consultation, Blueprint has worked with award winning digital engagement specialists Deetu, part of Nottingham based engineers BWB Consulting, to create an interactive consultation site that guides visitors through the outline plans for the development with stunning aerial images, audio commentary and fly-through 360-degree digital flows.

The consultation site can be found here and, in addition, visitors are able to book virtual drop-in sessions with the development team on either the 24th or 25th November or 1st December 2020 by going to the booking page.

To help gather feedback there are a number of surveys on the site that focus on the design details for the next phases, such as the provision of smaller, sheltered residential courtyards, which will provide a safe place for social gatherings, children’s play, and neighbourly interaction. There is also a survey asking more about waterside living and sharing ideas for a new riverside path and bridge over the basin and the installation of a new pontoon and access to the basin for water sports, unlocking access to the 1-acre inland basin for the first time since it fell out of use in the 1990s.

This consultation will close on Wednesday 16th December 2020. All feedback from this consultation will be anonymous, though may be used in preparing the planning application that will be submitted in 2021.
